Kangana Ranaut slams Alia Bhatt over her ‘kanyadaan’ ad, says ‘don’t use religion, minority, majority politics to sell things ‘ | Hindi Movie News

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram handle to react to a new advertisement starring Alia Bhatt as a bride who doesn’t agree with the tradition of ‘kanyadaan’ (giving away one’s daughter) at her wedding.

Tagging Ali Bhatt in the post with her stylist and the brand, Kangana objects to the idea of the ad and said that the commercial aims to ‘manipulate’ its customers by using ‘religion, minority-majority politics’ for their gains. She wrote, “Humble request to all brands ….. don’t use religion, minority, majority politics to sell things …. Stop manipulating naive consumer with shrewd divisive concepts and advertising… #mohey @aliaabhatt @moheyfashion @stylebyami.”

Her long note on the issue read, “ We often see a Martyr’s father on television when they loose a son on the border they roar don’t worry I have one more son, uska bhi daan main iss dharti Maa ko dunga… Kanyadaan ho ya putradaan… The way a society looks at the concept of (lack of equivalent word in English or Urdu using) renunciation shows it’s core value system… When they start to look down upon the very idea of daan… Then you know it is time for reestablishment of Ram Rajya…. The king who renounced everything he ever loved only to live the life of a Tapasvi (monk) Please stop mocking Hindus and their rituals…. Dharti (Earth) and woman both are mothers in scriptures they are worshipped as goddesses of fertility…. Nothing wrong in seeing them as precious and very source of existence (shakti).”

In the ad, Alia is featured as a bride-to-be who sits beside her husband-to-be at the wedding mandap and talks about how her family keeps reminding her that one day she must get married and leave for her in-laws’ house in a long monologue. She said, “Am I a thing to be donated? Why only kanyadaan.” To this, netizens sparked a debate in the comment section over the modern views on the age-old tradition.

Meanwhile, interestingly, it’s not the only time that Kangana and Alia are at loggerheads with each other.

Previously, Kangana was spotted taking a direct dig at Alia who didn’t share a response on the same. Calling her a part of the ‘nepo gang’, Kangana claimed to an entertainment portal that she advised Alia to have a ‘voice of her own’. Furthermore, she remarked her a ‘puppet’ of Karan Johar and said that it was ‘embarrassing to be compared to Alia’s ‘mediocre’ performance in ‘Gully Boy’.

She’s one of the actresses from Bollywood who flaunts flawless skin. And in a tell-all the actress opens up about this one particular kind of facial she likes to get every day! Well, no, she doesn’t have to hit a salon to get it, but she receives it exclusively in the confines of her home and that too without a beautician or any beauty products.

She shares, “Well, you know I have two dogs at home. Every morning they see me and lick my face. They wake me up with these morning facials.” The actress is fond of canines as her pets. She’s a mother to a Bichon Frise named Disco and a toy poodle named Phoebe. Through the tough times they have been keeping her positive and happy as she stayed in Mumbai, sans her parents, through the pandemic.

Now that she’s got back to shooting for films, Kriti does miss the two whenever she’s away. They are also the reason for making her crave to come back home. “I look forward to coming back home and I can just hear the scratching of their paws on the door whenever the lift door opens. It feels so good to know that you are going to be welcomed so warmly. With these two dogs, it is a lovely, positive feeling to wake up with them.”

While today she loves boasting about her pet dogs, that wasn’t the case with her during her younger days. In an earlier chat with BT, she had shared, “I was actually extremely scared of dogs for the most of my life. It is only since the last 5-6 years that I could find connect with them. My heart melted when I came across a puppy and befriended it.”
